The Day a Deutz 5105.4G Needed a ProPart…
In the world of agriculture, machinery breakdowns are an all-too-familiar scenario. Yet, some incidents are more dramatic than others, and this was one of those times.
Imagine the scene: a trusty Deutz-Fahr 5105.4G, diligently hauling up a rather steep hill.
Next minute, a big ole crack later and this Deutz was on a rather inconvenient angle.
As you can see by the photos below: the axle housing cracked clean down the middle and this Central North Island Deutz needed a full rear axle replacement in order to be up and working again.
We supplied a second-hand rear axle assembly and shaft, as well as the related bearings and seals. We sent these over to Moody Ag so that they could get this tractor back on field.
We’ve seen a few of these…
Mechanics and farmers alike will know that this is a reasonably common occurrence, and it usually happens when a tractor is pushed to it’s limit e.g. hauling large weights up a steep hill.
Stress fractures like this can also be caused by the farmers putting water in the tyres, a common tactic to make the tractor more stable when driving on hill country.
The extra weight from the water puts stress on the chassis – leading to breakages like this one.
Key takeaway? We reckon go easy on your machines before they break themselves.😉
