What is OEM? And Why Should You Care?
Everyday our parts team hear the question “Is it genuine or aftermarket?” but we want to let you all know that there is a third player…
You’ve probably heard the term OEM thrown around when it comes to tractor parts. But do you know OEM actually means? And more importantly, why should you care when your tractor’s out of action and you just want the thing running again?

Let’s break it down.
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer
In simple terms, OEM means the manufacturers are the same companies who make parts for the big tractor brands, like SAME, Deutz-Fahr, John Deere, New Holland and more.
Myth: All “genuine” parts are made by the tractor brand themselves.
While your tractor might have a green or red badge on the bonnet, that doesn’t mean the actual components inside it were made by that brand. Most of the time, they’re made by specialised manufacturers.
For example, Ferrari and Goldoni tractors run VM Motori Engines and Bosch Rexroth manufacture hydraulic components for Deutz-Fahr, Massey Ferguson and many other brands. Myth: Busted.
What you can do with that info…
At ProPart, we work hard to source parts directly from the OEMs so it is something we are happy to be able to offer you.
If you’re looking for genuine quality, but without the “genuine” price. OEM is the option you’re looking for, it’s not as cost-saving as aftermarket, but not over-priced, and offers great value.
We’re proud to say that we can supply parts that are often the very same sort that went into your tractor the day it rolled out of the factory.
How this makes your life easier…
We’re not just here to sell parts – we’re here to solve problems.
And the more you understand about OEM, the better equipped you are to make smart choices about your machinery.
Ask our friendly staff if they have any OEM options for what your looking for!
We guarantee to put the right parts in your hands, and make it easy for you in the process.
Trusted by tractors. Parts made easy.
