Iveco Engine Water Pump Keeps Generator Running – Fits a Range of Tractors

The Job: A failed water pump on a generator

In sunny Hawke’s Bay, a punter found themselves stuck with a generator that had suddenly packed it in.

The mechanic had a look and found a failed water pump on the generator’s Iveco engine. Without the pump doing its job, the generator couldn’t keep cool – and that means no power.

Generators and tractors are alike in that they rely on constant water flow to manage heat. Without it, the engine can obviously overheat quickly, meaning when it breaks down, a fast is turnaround essential.

The Fix: A speedy, full replacement, at aftermarket prices

Rather than waste time trying to patch things up, the customer made the smart call to swap in a replacement.

This is where we were able to come in, we had one in stock, right ready to go (Part number 464199CP (OEM: 504065104)). Because we know these pumps are a common fail point, we always make sure to carry them.

Our Aftermarket version is Italian-made, high quality, and sharp on price. We dispatched it straight away – and before long, the generator was back up and humming.

Better yet, while this job was for a generator, the same pump fits a wide range of tractors, including Ford New Holland 30, 35, TD, TL, TN, TD, TNA, and TNF series, plus Fiat 66, 76, 86, 90, L, 93, 94 Series, and Case IH JX, JXU, JXC Series. It’s a bit of a crossover legend.

ProPart Insights: Why water pumps commonly fail

Water pump failure is a very common problem and we get calls regularly for replacements of these. The continuous pressure on the bearings can eventually cause them to collapse.

Sometimes you’ll hear the pump getting noisy before it lets go – that’s usually your warning sign. Otherwise, watch for overheating on the temp gauge.

A solid tip from our parts desk: whenever you’re swapping a pump like this, its very common (and reccomended) to replace the fan belts at the same time. They’re often worn, and doing both jobs together saves a second strip-down later.
